BRIEF
With all major American sports leagues featuring regular season games in Europe, it seems plausible that someday one league will expand into Europe permanently. Logistics aside, in this branding and design exercise I chose 3 European cities and gave them each a new NBA Franchise. My gaol was to create brand identities for each team that fit with the team’s location as well as visually appeared different from any other team in the league.
PARIS TRIOMPHE
If the NBA were ever to expand to Europe, Paris is the destination that makes the most sense. The NBA played a regular season game during the 2022-23 season in Paris between the Pistons and the Bulls, which they have already announced will continue again next season. The French professional league is one of the best in Europe, the National team is consistently good, and NBA rosters frequently feature French international players.
I intentionally avoided using designs or elements form the Eiffel Tower and instead drew inspiration from another famous Parisian landmark, the Arc De Triomphe. The team’s colors are derived from the Flag of France.
